I live in and been through tornados and hurricanes all of my life. The reason New Orleans is a shambles is not because of the president of the United States. It’s because of the corruption in the state and local governments. Our state governor, knowing that we are likely targets for a hurricane, put into place a savings account for hurricane victims, just in case. Our building codes the second most strict in the nation. (California’s earthquake codes are equally as stringent). On top of it all, I hear reports out of CNN that they found a man in New Orleans who saw a barge trying to turn around at the exact spot where the levy gave way. Coincidence? I think not. Mismanagement of state and local funds is to blame for this disaster, not President Bush.
