Condi Dusts off Her War Drum, Iran Here We Come.

Writing by on Wednesday, 31 of May , 2006 at 11:16 am

Well let the New War begin. Condi went on TV today to tell you why we are going to bomb the shit out of a nation that has not done anything wrong. In a very arogant and almost condescending way Condi said, “As soon as Iran fully and verifiably suspends its enrichment and reprocessing activities, the United States will come to the table with our EU colleagues and meet with Iran’s representative”. In other words, we are going to pretend to be diplomatic, but in fact we really want to bomb the shit out of them.

As she beats the drum for war (Much like she did in Iraq, and you see she was full of shit there) to go to war with Iran, the man who planed 9/11 is still on the loose, the nation that harbored him, we are allowing to fall back under Taliban control and the Nation we went after to help Halliburton stock is falling deeper into total chaos.

You should stop and ask yourself, do you really trust anything that comes of of this administration? I don’t, it has been one lie after the next, and now they want to go to war with Iran. NO! Iran had nothing to do with 9/11, are we going to go the way of late 1930’s Germany, are we really going to be the nation that invades others because we can?

So I am Guessing Bush is the Last to Know.

Writing by on Tuesday, 30 of May , 2006 at 9:26 am

For the better part of 3 months, reporters have been asking Bush what he is going to do with Snow’s resignation, he repeatedly said over and over that “Snow is not going to resign, you reporters are just speculating.” Well today, Snow announced his resignation, Bush is the last to know I guess.

Bush has already found his replacement… Goldman Sachs Chairman Henry M. Paulson Jr.

Congress Wants to Save Money, So They Slashes Air-Traffic Controllers Pay.

Writing by on Saturday, 27 of May , 2006 at 9:32 am

Every day more and more Americans jump aboard airplanes to go to far off destinations like grandma’s house, or work, and they put their trust in countless people, hoping they are doing their job, and are happy. One of many in this chain of people is the Air-Traffic Controller; he makes sure that your plane does not crash into another plane. It is considered one of the most stressful jobs in the world; it has a very high burn out rate. So what corrupt Republican lead Congress want to do to make sure we can fell these vital positions, slash the starting pay be almost half, from $30,000 to $17,000!

I would not say it if it were not true (I wish Bush could say the same) but Congress (Republicans and Democrats) wants to FORCE this via legislation.

FairFAA has more

House of Representatives
Rep. Sue Kelly, R-N.Y., and Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Ill., introduced the "Federal Aviation Administration Fair Labor Management Dispute Resolution Act" on Feb. 15 to correct inequities in the current contract negotiating process between the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Air Traffic Controllers’ union.

Senate
Senators Daniel Inouye, D-Hawaii, Barack Obama, D-Ill., Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., introduced a bill on Jan. 26 that would force the Federal Aviation Administration to engage in productive, good faith contract negotiations with its unions, including the National Air Traffic Controllers Association.  The bill would deny the agency any ability to unilaterally impose a contract without the consent of Congress.

It is unclear to me why the Dems are so on-board with this shot at the unions, but the last think I want is ATC that quit their jobs and go do something else. I also do not see why anyone would enter ACT school so they can go and make minimum wage

Republican’s Hire Convicted Criminal to Run Right-Wing Campaign School

Writing by on Friday, 26 of May , 2006 at 7:09 am

The Republicans hiring a convicted criminal to run campaign school. Is it just me or do the Republicans no longer even pretend to care about Americans anymore? The corrupt Republicans have hired Charles McGee, convicted of phone jamming the Democratic and Manchester firefighters’ offices on Election Day 2002, proving that the Republicans hare dirty low-life’s, and can not win unless they resort to breaking the law.

From the UnionLeader

Pease kept McGee’s job intact while McGee served seven months in prison last year after pleading guilty to conspiracy in connection with the scandal. McGee had admitted to masterminding the hang-up call operation targeting Democratic and Manchester firefighters’ offices on Election Day 2002.

McGee had been pretty much under the radar since being released from prison last November. But he surfaced recently with an e-mail to “Friends and Fellow Republicans,” obtained by the Granite Status.

Signed by McGee as “vice president/political and corporate communications” of Spectrum, it’s an invitation to a “GOP Campaign School” Spectrum is hosting at Southern New Hampshire University on June 3 and 4.

A flier about the school calls it a “nuts and bolts boot camp” to give participants “all the tools you need to win.” The course will be taught by former Maine state Rep. Adam Mack.

Novak Told Rove He Would Cover For Him

Writing by on Thursday, 25 of May , 2006 at 6:57 pm

Novak Told Rove He Would Cover For Him - Patrick Fitzgerald has one more reason to think that Rove lied to the grand jury and FBI about where he heard about Valerie Plame: because he never thought he would be revealed as a source for Bob Novak. Why did… [Left Coaster]

It is nice to see the media and the corrupt Republican Administration are so close. So I was right all along, the Bush Adminstrations are traitors to the Nation.

Traitor Dick Cheney May be Asked Before the Grand Jury

Writing by on Thursday, 25 of May , 2006 at 8:04 am

Second in command of the corrupt Republican cabal that is running this nation into the ground, Vice President Dick Cheney, may be asked to report before the Grand Jury. Remember folks this man out-ed a undercover CIA agent (Yes she was undercover, the CIA is the one that asked for the investigation, why would they request it if she was not), that makes Dick a traitor to this nation, Dick Cheney is the new Benedict Arnold.

From the AP

Could Vice President Dick Cheney be a star prosecution witness in the perjury trial of his former chief of staff?

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald suggested in a court filing Wednesday that Cheney would be a logical witness for the prosecution because the vice president could authenticate notes he jotted on a copy of a New York Times opinion column by a critic of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

Fitzgerald said Cheney’s "state of mind" is "directly relevant" to whether I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the vice president’s former top aide, lied to FBI agents and a federal grand jury about how Libby learned CIA officer Valerie Plame’s identity and what he later told reporters.

Libby "shared the interests of his superior and was subject to his direction," the prosecutor wrote.

"Therefore, the state of mind of the vice president as communicated to (the) defendant is directly relevant to the issue of whether (the) defendant knowingly made false statements to federal agents and the grand jury regarding when and how he learned about (Plame’s) employment and what he said to reporters regarding this issue," according to the filing.

Cheney’s spokeswoman, Lea Anne McBride, said, "Since the inquiry relates to a case in the courts, I refer you to the Office of the Special Counsel."

Republican Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert is Under FBI Investigation on Corruption

Writing by on Wednesday, 24 of May , 2006 at 8:44 pm

Today Republican Dennis Hastert, Speaker of the House released a statement along with his minority counterpart, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on the complete disregard of the separations of powers when the Executive branch of the government (The FBI) raid the offices of the Legislative branch.

You may say why the hell would the Republicans care, they have been the ones that have been begging for the destruction of the Constitution, simple ABC has reported that Dennis Hastert, Republican speaker of the house is under investigation by, guess who, the FBI. We can only assume that this new found Constitutional fortitude is due to the fact that Dennis is using his office to hide his papers from the FBI.

From ABC News (bolds are Mine)

ABC News has learned that the Speaker of the House, Illinois Republican Dennis Hastert, is being investigated by the FBI, which wants to determine his role in an ongoing public corruption probe that is swirling around Congress.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, is under investigation by the FBI, which is seeking to determine his role in an ongoing public corruption probe into members of Congress, ABC News has learned from high level official sources.

Federal officials say the information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.

Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three years ago, urging the Secretary of the Interior to block a casino on an Indian reservation that would have competed with other tribes.

The other tribes were represented by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff who reportedly has provided details of his dealings with Hastert as part of his plea agreement with the government.

The letter was written shortly after a fund-raiser for Hastert at a restaurant owned by Abramoff. Abramoff and his clients contributed more than $26,000 at the time.

ThinkProgress: Media Reports Gonzales’ Misleading Legal Analysis on NSA Program, Ignores All Opposing Views

Writing by on Wednesday, 24 of May , 2006 at 1:28 pm

From ThinkProgress

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales won’t confirm that the federal government collected the phone records of millions of Americans, as reported on May 11 in USA Today. But yesterday, Gonzales claimed that doing so was perfectly legal. From the Washington Post:

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales said yesterday that the government can obtain domestic telephone records without court approval under a 1979 Supreme Court ruling that authorized the collection of business records…Gonzales told reporters that, under the Smith v. Maryland ruling, “those kinds of records do not enjoy Fourth Amendment protection. There is no reasonable expectation of privacy in those kinds of records.”

This is a classic case of misdirection. The issue isn’t simply whether or not collecting domestic phone records is constitutional. The issue is whether it’s legal. If the USA Today story is accurate, the NSA program appears to be illegal, not because it violates the fourth amendment, but because it violates two statutes.

Significantly, Smith v. Maryland considers activities that occurred in 1976. Both of the statutes that prohibit the activity described by USA Today were enacted after that date:

1. The Stored Communications Act of 1986 (SCA). The law prohibits the telecommunications companies from handing over telephone records to the government without a court order. (18 USC 2702-3.) There are several exceptions, none of which apply in this circumstance. The SCA was enacted in response to Smith v. Maryland.

2. The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA). The law allows this kind of domestic surveillance in two circumstances: 1) the government obtains a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, or 2) the government obtains a certification from the Attorney General that the program is legal under FISA. According to the USA Today article, neither action was taken.

The Washington Post story on Gonzales’ comments, however, doesn’t mention the Stored Communications Act or the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. For that matter, it doesn’t include any legal analysis from anyone other than Gonzales.

Americans Are Not Happy with Republicans In Charge.

Writing by on Wednesday, 24 of May , 2006 at 1:19 pm

Well this is good news for us Democrats come November 2006.

From Zogby (As Always, bolds are mine)

As an increasing volume of news about political and corporate leaders comes out of investigations and federal courthouses instead of boardrooms and Capitol Hill hearing rooms, a new Lichtman/Zogby Interactive poll confirms Americans are distrustful of leaders across the societal spectrum.

Three out of four (75%) said they trust government less than they did five years ago, just 5% said they think corporations do right by the consumers they are in business to serve, and only 25% feel the reporting is fair and accurate in the newspapers they read or the nightly broadcast network news they watch on television. Nearly 60% said they believe the “state of honesty in America” today is in poor shape (18% said it is in the worst possible shape).

The poll was commissioned by author and ethics specialist Jim Lichtman. His latest book, What Do You Stand For?, is now available.

Overall, just 3% said they think Congress in general is trustworthy, compared to 24% who said President Bush is trustworthy and 29% who said they can put their faith in the national court system, the survey shows. Corporate leaders in America are nearly as widely distrusted as Congress – just 7% said they are trustworthy.

-snip-

When asked “What 2 or 3 specific changes would have to take place in order to improve your trust in government today?”, the top three called for, “personnel changes/impeachment proceedings; curtail/eliminate lobbying, minimize cronyism; and campaign finance reform.”

Pat Robertson is an un-Christian Liar, or Superman!

Writing by on Wednesday, 24 of May , 2006 at 9:15 am

Pat Robertson has said that he can leg press over 2,000 lbs. He is selling those damn protein shakes his site says, "Did you know that Pat Robertson can leg-press 2000 pounds! How does he do it?, He does it by making shit up. Now I thought that Christians were not to lie. I am not sure if Pat Robertson knows, but he has broken the record, and not only broke it, but smashed it! The record was somewhere around 1,655 lbs.

From CBS Sportsline

"400 pounds is nothing! Rev. Pat Robertson, 76, can leg press 2,000 pounds. I saw him on TV the other day and the capillaries in his eyes looked just fine!"

Three things:

1. I am going to drink this protein shake of his and try to leg press a Mazda Miata with three clowns sitting inside.

2. There is no way on earth Robertson leg presses 2,000 pounds. That would mean a 76-year-old man broke the all-time Florida State University leg press record by 665 pounds over Dan Kendra. 665 pounds. Further, when he set the record, they had to modify the leg press machine to fit 1,335 pounds of weight. Plus, Kendra’s capillaries in his eyes burst. Burst. Where in the world did Robertson even find a machine that could hold 2,000 pounds at one time? And how does he still have vision?

3. It’s rare the ClayNation Guarantee makes an appearance, but here, it is justified. There is no way Robertson leg presses 2,000 pounds. Period. If he can, I will box a round against Andrew Golota without wearing a jockstrap. After about 20 minutes on Robertson’s Web site, I managed to find a way to send an e-mail without having to give my credit card information. Here was the text:

"I would like to interview Pat Robertson about his leg-press workout and protein shake. If possible, I would like to accompany Pat on his workout where I could help him stack on the 44 different 45-pound plates he would need to attach to leg press 2,000 pounds. By my calculations, his leg press of 2,000 pounds requires 22 forty-fives and one ten-pounder on each side.

19 Days Before VA Tells me My ID Has Been Stolen.

Writing by on Wednesday, 24 of May , 2006 at 9:11 am

I am one of the people that have had their ID stolen by someone. I am a disabled vet, and all vets after 1979 and any vet that has filed a claim (me) was taken, and it took 19 days before they report it.

CNN

Authorities waited almost three weeks to alert the public that personal data on more than 26 million U.S. veterans had fallen into the hands of thieves, a government source said Tuesday.

The data were on a laptop and external drive stolen May 3 in an apparent random burglary from the Montgomery County, Maryland, home of a Department of Veterans Affairs computer analyst, said the government source, who has been briefed on the issue.

The government did not immediately announce the theft because officials had hoped to catch the culprits and did not want to tip them off about what they had stolen for fear they would sell it, the government source said.

Democrats Push for Security Reports, Republicans Could Care less.

Writing by on Monday, 22 of May , 2006 at 11:32 am

Democrats want the American people to know what the Republicans are doing with their security. The short answer, not a damn thing.

From the Washington Post (Bolds are mine)

Two key Democrats on the House committee that oversees the Department of Homeland Security criticized the agency last week for not releasing to Congress reports on 118 security plans for mass transit, rail, aviation, ports and borders.

Many of the reports were due in 2003.

"The American people deserve more from the Department of Homeland Security than missed deadlines, especially when our nation’s security is at risk," said a letter signed by Rep. Bennie Thompson (Miss.), the ranking Democrat on the Committee on Homeland Security, and Rep. Kendrick Meek (Fla.) ranking Democrat of its subcommittee on management, integration and oversight.

–snip–

One late report, according to Thompson and Meek, assesses the impact on travelers’ privacy and civil liberties from the Transportation Security Administration’s proposed Secure Flight program, which would pre-screen passengers by computer. That report was due March 13, 2004. Another late report focuses on threats from international air cargo; it was due June 15, 2005. Congress also wanted an update on the criteria to be used to consolidate names on the terrorist watch list; that report was due in June 2005.

"Given the below-average performance of the department on so many fronts including emergency preparedness during the past year, adequate assessments of the department’s capabilities and plans are not only needed but critical to our nation’s security," the letter said.

One Democrat vs Countless Republicans - I Am Okay with That

Writing by on Monday, 22 of May , 2006 at 10:51 am

I am glad to see that corruption is being rooted out of politics, Republican or Democrat. So I am sure that the Right-Wings are going nuts because a Democrat’s office was raided by the FBI, I am sure that they are also willfully ignoring the countless Republicans that are under investigation, or are in jail.

I want corruption out of my government, and unlike my right-wing counterparts, I am not a hypocritical shill, I will toss a Democrat out of office just as much as I would a Republican. Sadly the Republicans use to be a party of dignity, Republicans were going to toss Dick Nixon out of office, now, they will let a fellow Republican lead us to war, and do nothing.
