Welcome to Bush’s New America, Where Americans are Tortured.

Writing by on Tuesday, 31 of October , 2006 at 3:40 pm

I am so glad that I live in Bush’s America. In the new America, we torture Americans! HOLY SHIT, what the fick have you people done to this once great nation, you fucking Republicans have ruined the nation, I hope you burn in hell for what you have done…

From Reuters (bolds are mine)

Lawyers for alleged al Qaeda operative Jose Padilla have asked a Florida judge to dismiss the terrorism case against him, saying he was tortured and force-fed psychedelic drugs while held at a U.S. military brig for more than 3-1/2 years.

"The torture took myriad forms, each designed to cause pain, anguish, depression and ultimately, the loss of will to live," Padilla’s attorney’s said in the motion for dismissal filed in Miami federal court earlier this month.

"Often he had to endure multiple interrogators who would scream, shake and otherwise assault Mr. Padilla," his lawyers said. "Additionally, Mr. Padilla was given drugs against his will, believed to be some form of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) or phencyclidine (PCP), to act as a sort of truth serum during his interrogations."

Presiding U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke on Monday gave the U.S. attorney’s office until November 14 by to respond to Padilla’s allegations, according to an order released by the court.

Padilla, a U.S. citizen arrested in Chicago in May 2002, was initially accused of plotting to set off a radioactive "dirty bomb."

Known Racist Allen Desprate to Find Dirt on Webb

Writing by on Monday, 30 of October , 2006 at 8:28 am

I just love me some hypocritical tactics in the morning. George “Maccaca” Allen, the racist re-running here in Virginia is desperate to find some dirt on his Democratic opponent Jim (James) Webb. I mean Allen is having a hard time, Webb’s son is currently serving in Iraq, Webb was a deputy Secretary of Defense, and Secretary of the Navy. Jim Webb has more smarts in his little finger than George Allen has in his whole family.

So what does George Allen do, well I will repost what Sherry Greenburg posted on the California Majority Report

It’s desperation time. Thursday night, VA Senator George Allen’s campaign leaked to Drudge salacious quotations contained in some books penned by Jim Webb.  Allen’s campaign had been trying for weeks to get mainstream media to pick up the story, to no avail.  Apparently, no one, except for Drudge, found years-old passages, contained in well-respected novels about Webb’s service in Vietnam, newsworthy.  The leaked passages were about events Webb had witnessed.  And, the books were so respected that John McCain was quoted on the book jacket of one of the books noting that the novel was an accurate representation of what soldiers witnessed in Vietnam.

Once the GOP used its time-tested conduit of Drudge to a Murdoch paper to Fox to mainstream media, stories of these passages permeated Friday’s news.  But, something remarkable happened.  Unlike when Kerry was swift-boated, Webb and Democrats fought back.  Democratic talking heads noted, when they appeared on television on Friday, that (a) these books were about the real experience in Vietnam, (b) Webb had a distinguished record of serving while Allen was puttering around a dude ranch, (c) McCain endorsed Webb’s book, and (d) Lynn Cheney wrote a book containing lesbian love scenes, Scooter Libby also wrote a novel containing salacious material and Allen’s own sister published a book containing real life brutality she and her siblings experienced at Allen’s hand.  The pushback was so effective that Lynn Cheney got into quite a dustup with Wolf Blitzer over her own prose.

Webb also did not hesitate to immediately repudiate Allen’s attempted smear.  Early Friday morning, he appeared on local DC-area radio.  And then, held several rallies over the weekend where he addressed this nonsense head-on.

Turnabout being fair play, on Saturday, the DSCC issued a press release demanding answers from Allen about a real controversy — why was Allen arrested in 1974?  Records in Albemarle County show that arrest warrants were issued for Allen when he was a student at the University of Virginia.  Allen’s camp claims that the warrants were for parking tickets and fishing without a license. There is a paucity of additional information in the courthouse, due to routine destruction of old records. Thus, the DSCC is demanding that Allen release his Virginia Bar application — a document which should contain his narrative of any arrests.  So far, the Allen campaign has refused. If there is nothing to hide, why shouldn’t Allen release his bar application?  Is it because the warrants were for something more substantial than what was claimed by his aides or did he fail to note, as required, the arrests?

If Allen can attack fiction as a supposed disqualification for Webb to hold high office, shouldn’t the truth of Allen’s own arrests be fair game?  This is going to be an interesting week.

Because of the Republicans, We have Lost 100 Soldiers this Month…

Writing by on Monday, 30 of October , 2006 at 8:18 am

What a sad day, the month of October has turned out to be a bloodbath for our troops. We have passed the 100 mark for the month alone.

What does 100 really look like. Each flag is one dead soldier. Each flag is blood on the hands of those that put them there.

GOP Has Nothing to Run on…

Writing by on Thursday, 26 of October , 2006 at 12:00 pm

The war in Iraq is a disaster, so Bush has been directing the Republicans that are running for re-election to hold up the economy as proof that America under the GOP is great! Real wages for working and middle class people in the United States has fallen for the last 5 or so years, while CEO and executives have seen massive increases in the amount they have been paid.

The only saving grace that Bush has had is the red hot housing market, and as we all know, that has cooled but WOW, this is an October surprise F

rom the AP (Bolds are mine)

The median price of a new home plunged in September by the largest amount in more than 35 years, even as the pace of sales rebounded for a second month.

The Commerce Department reported that the median price for a new home sold in September was $217,100, a drop of 9.7 percent from September 2005. It was the lowest median price for a new home since September 2004 and the sharpest year-over-year decline since December 1970. The weakness in new home prices was even sharper than a 2.5 percent fall in the price of existing homes last month, which had been the biggest drop on record.

The price decline for new homes came while the sales pace picked up, rising by 5.3 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate 1.075 million homes. It marked the second consecutive increase in sales following three months of declines.

The declines in prices served to underscore the severity of the correction in the once-booming housing market, which had seen sales of both new and existing homes soar to record levels for five consecutive years, propelled by the lowest mortgage rates in more than four decades.

Tony Snow Would Not Know the Truth is it Ran Him Over.

Writing by on Tuesday, 24 of October , 2006 at 8:51 pm

I just love ThinkProgress, they have the time and the money to point out how much of a pack of liars they are!

On Sunday, President Bush told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that his Iraq policy has “never been stay the course.” (Today, Rumsfeld disagreed, calling suggestions they were backing away from the phrase “nonsense.”)

Moments ago on Fox News, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said “we went back and looked today and could only find eight times where he [Bush] ever used the phrase stay the course.” Watch it:

Apparently, the White House research team isn’t very good at “the Google.” ThinkProgress has documented 30 times that Bush has used the phrase to describe his policy in Iraq:

Digg It!

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will help this young Iraqi democracy succeed, and victory in Iraq will be a major ideological triumph in the struggle of the 21st century. [8/30/06]

BUSH: Stay the course also means don’t leave before the job is done. And that’s - we’re going to get the job done in Iraq. [8/11/06]

BUSH: As a matter of fact, we will win in Iraq so long as we stay the course. [7/11/06]

BUSH: And I saw people wondering whether the United States would have the nerve to stay the course and help them succeed. [6/19/06]

BUSH: If we don’t lose our nerve, if we stay the course, someday down the road, an American President will be working with democratically-elected leaders in the broader Middle East at the table to keep the peace. [3/24/06]

BUSH: Some critics continue to assert that we have no plan in Iraq except to, “stay the course.” If by “stay the course,” they mean we will not allow the terrorists to break our will, they are right. If by “stay the course,” they mean we will not permit al Qaeda to turn Iraq into what Afghanistan was under the Taliban - a safe haven for terrorism and a launching pad for attacks on America - they are right, as well. If by “stay the course” they mean that we’re not learning from our experiences, or adjusting our tactics to meet the challenges on the ground, then they’re flat wrong. [11/30/05]

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]

BUSH: And so the United States of America will stay the course and we will complete the task. We’ll help Iraq develop a democracy and the world will be better off for it. [11/21/04]

BUSH: My message is that - is that we will stay the course and stand with these people so that they become free. [9/23/04]

BUSH: We will stay the course so that they can develop an army and police force of their own so they can defend themselves. [9/13/04]

BUSH: We must stay the course until the job is done. [8/13/04]

BUSH: But Americans are used to hard work when it comes to a cause greater than ourself. And that’s what we’re doing. And we’ll stay the course. [4/20/04]

BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. [4/16/04]

BUSH: And we will stay the course in Iraq so that his son did not die in vain. [4/15/04]

BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course; we’ll complete the job. [4/13/04]

BUSH: We will stay the course in Iraq. [4/6/04]

BUSH: So we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. [4/5/04]

BUSH: You know, I told the family how much we appreciated his sacrifice - he was killed in Iraq - and assured him that we would stay the course. [4/5/04]

BUSH: I met with the family of a fellow who - who was killed in Iraq. … I told the - I told the dad, and the mom, and the wife that we’d stay the course. [4/5/04]

BUSH: This country will stay the course and get the job done. [4/2/04]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, because a free Iraq in the heart of the Middle East will make the world more peaceful. [1/23/04]

BUSH: And we will stay the course until the job is done. [1/12/04]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course. [12/15/03]

BUSH: I was able to assure them that we were going to stay the course and get the job done, but I also reminded them what I said publicly, that it’s up to them to seize the moment, to have a government that recognizes all rights, the rights of the majority and the rights of the minority, to speak to the aspirations and hopes of the Iraqi people. [11/27/03]

BUSH: We will stay the course, and as more and more Iraqis realize freedom is precious and freedom is a beautiful way of life, they will assume more and more responsibilities, not only for security, but for humanitarian reasons, as well. [11/14/03]

BUSH: It’s in the national interest of the United States that a peaceful Iraq emerge. And we will stay the course in order to achieve this objective. [10/27/03]

BUSH: And we’ll just stay the course. [10/22/03]

BUSH: We talked about Iraq. And I told him and assured him that the United States would stay the course because we believe freedom is on its way to the Iraqi people. [7/14/03]

BUSH: We’re making steady progress. A free Iraq will mean a peaceful world. And it’s very important for us to stay the course, and we will stay the course. [7/10/03]

BUSH: Not only does the war on terror go on, but we’ve got a lot of work to do in Iraq. And we’re going to stay the course until the job gets done. [6/5/03]

Video Transcript:

GIBSON: Tony Snow, Thanks very much for joining us. Is it true the president has abandoned the line we’re staying the course and the new explanation of Iraq is there is a time line in place?

SNOW: This a great story, because we went back and looked today and could only find eight times where he ever used the phrase stay the course.

Bush’s Failure: Taliban Attacks Up 300%

Writing by on Tuesday, 24 of October , 2006 at 8:32 pm

From georga10 on DailyKOS

ABC:

U.S. military officials tell ABC News cross-border attacks by the Taliban are up "300 percent"  since President Musharraf declared a "truce" with tribal leaders in the troubled Northern Waziristan region that borders Afghanistan. […]

Reports from the district capital Miram Shah say Taliban vigilantes now patrol the streets, while Pakistani government officials and the military are all but absent.  […]

"If the Pakistan army is not willing to clean this up in a sustained manner," worries a top U.S. military official, "I just do not know what we are going to do."

Although the peace deal with Islamabad specifically forbade the Pakistani tribesmen from forming a parallel government, Taliban rulers in the region have issued a strict legal code, even announcing plans to begin taxing vehicles that pass through their district.

Many national security experts warned that the truce would do more harm than good in the fight against terror.  Sadly, it appears that Richard Clarke’s September prediction has come true:

Former White House counter-terrorism czar Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant, said "What this means is that the Taliban and al Queida leadership have effectively carved out a sanctuary inside Pakistan."

Let’s remember that the President didn’t raise objections to the deal:

"When [President Mushareaf] looks me in the eye and says the tribal deal is intended to reject the Talibanization of the people, and that there won’t be a Taliban and won’t be Al Qaeda, I believe him."

The upcoming election is a referendum on this President’s failed judgment throughout this fight against terror, from the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan to the desert of Iraq. It will also be a referendum on a Republican Congress that has sat idly in silent acquiescence as the President committed these dangerous errors in judgment.

Bush Sits on TV and Lies, ‘We’ve Never Been Stay The Course’

Writing by on Sunday, 22 of October , 2006 at 10:20 am

Thanks to ThinkProgress for the Video and data research

George Bush simply can not tell the truth. He and Bill O’Riley are the only people who just don’t get that every word that comes out of their mouth is on the record. Bush said this morning, “We’ve never been stay the course”, What, are you out of your mind George, you have said it so much that it has become a punch line! You have coupled that with the phrase “Cut and Run” for anyone who questioned your failed “Stay the Course”

ush responded, ‘We’ve never been about stay the course, George!’ Watch it:

Bush is wrong:

BUSH: We will stay the course. [8/30/06]

BUSH: We will stay the course, we will complete the job in Iraq. [8/4/05]

BUSH: We will stay the course until the job is done, Steve. And the temptation is to try to get the President or somebody to put a timetable on the definition of getting the job done. We’re just going to stay the course. [12/15/03]

BUSH: And my message today to those in Iraq is: We’ll stay the course. [4/13/04]

BUSH: And that’s why we’re going to stay the course in Iraq. And that’s why when we say something in Iraq, we’re going to do it. [4/16/04]

BUSH: And so we’ve got tough action in Iraq. But we will stay the course. [4/5/04]

Full transcript:

STEPHANOPOULOS: James Baker says that he’s looking for something between “cut and run” and “stay the course.”

BUSH: Well, hey, listen, we’ve never been “stay the course,” George. We have been — we will complete the mission, we will do our job, and help achieve the goal, but we’re constantly adjusting to tactics. Constantly.
