John McCain has a long history of not caring what the American people thing. Look no further than his comments on Sept of '06.
Well it looks like the American people don't really think John McCain is being honest when it comes to his desperate defense of the Bush Iraq plan. According to a new CBS Poll 39% of Americans thing John McCain is a liar when it comes to his rosy assessment of Iraq. 29% think he is right on (we call that the Bush base, the 28% or so of people that think Bush can do no wrong, ever).
This is the guy that wants to be the president, he hates Americans, he hate what we think, and what we say. He wants to parent us, not lead us.

Bush does not trust the Department of Homeland Security to do their jobs. In today’s cry-baby hissy-fit in the Rose Garden Bush dodged a very well thought out question.
Q You've talked about the consequences of failure in Iraq, and you've said that enemies would follow us home. I wonder, given that, it seems like that's not exactly a ringing endorsement of people who are charged with the responsibility of keeping America safe. So what —
THE PRESIDENT: What was that again, Ed?
Q Well, you say that the enemies would follow us home —
THE PRESIDENT: I will — that's what they'll do, just like September the 11th. They plotted, planned, and attacked.
So after the 100’s of billions in cash, the 1000’s of new hires, the mass amount of cash that has been given to the military industrial complex, we are NO SAFER than we were on Sept 10th.

Cheney is in Florida saying that the US House's funding of the troops is somehow "Not supporting the troops". Hey Dick, if I recall, you are such a coward that you never served in the service. In fact, I think that you went out of your way to get deferments so you did not have to serve. If I recall, you said, "I had better things to do at that time".
So I say to you, Dick, and I will say it in a way that you can understand, "Go fuck yourself you coward"
The House funded the war, and support them so much that they want to bring them home. Thanks to you it is no longer about supporting the troops, it is save them from you guys!
THE HOUSE FUNDED THE TROOPS, THEY ARE GOING TO GET WHAT THEY NEED. YOU GUYS ARE WELCOME TO VETO IT, AND IT WILL BE US THAT DOES NOT SUPPORT THE TROOPS. BIG WORDS DICK FROM A KNOWN COWARD!

the Democrat should use the precedence set forth by the Republicans when they were in control of the House and Senate. Subpoena for the information they want or start contempt hearings, I wonder if the Republicans are starting to regret the witchhunt they waged against Bill Clinton.
When Bill Clinton was president the Republicans clearly felt that anything going on in the White House was fair game, why should this president expect anything less than the swift justice Republicans were willing to deal out when Clinton was president. The president has been set gentlemen and the rules of engagement were written by the Republicans, so Bush give Congress what they want or prepare for impeachment.
Let’s take a trip in the way back machine, all the way to May 10, 1996. From the New York Times (bolds are mine)…
A House committee investigating the dismissals at the White House travel office voted today to begin criminal contempt proceedings against one current and two former Presidential aides after President Clinton’s top lawyer invoked executive privilege in refusing to turn over documents sought by the panel.
The 27-19 vote by the Government Reform and Oversight Committee came after Presidential aides cited the constitutionally based doctrine that permits Presidents, under rare circumstances, to withhold national security or deliberative material from Congress or the courts.
Representative William F. Clinger Jr., a Pennsylvania Republican who is chairman of the committee, said he would delay the next step, sending the contempt action to the House floor for a vote, in hopes that he could reach a compromise with the White House over the disputed documents.
If not, aides to Mr. Clinger said that within a week he would seek a full House vote on the measure. If approved, the contempt charges would be referred to the United States Attorney here for prosecution and would probably be transferred to Kenneth W. Starr, the Whitewater independent counsel, who is already investigating travel office matters.
If convicted, the three men facing criminal contempt proceedings could face up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000. The men named in Mr. Clinger’s resolution are Jack Quinn, the White House counsel; David Watkins, a former top administrator at the White House, and Matthew Moore, a former White House lawyer.

Well it is not like we the people did not see this coming a mile away, the White House has told the Congress that they will now allow White House officials to testify in front of Congess unless they are allowed to lie their asses off. No I am not kidding, the real question is what are the Democrats going to do about it?
The White House said in a letter to Congress, that the full committee is not allowed to question them, only one or two members are allowed. They are not allowed to be placed under oath, they are not allowed to have there testimony recorded and it all has to be done behind closed doors.
Well Bullshit to that!

Well it is being reported that the White House is looking for a new Attorney General, the one they have now may need to go soon, and if we are luck it will incluse some jail time.
From McClatchy
The White House began floating the names of possible replacements for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales Monday as the Justice Department released more internal documents related to the firings of eight U.S. attorneys last year.
One prominent Republican, who earlier had predicted that Gonzales would survive the controversy, said he expected both Gonzales and Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty to resign soon. Another well-connected Republican said that White House officials have launched an aggressive search for Gonzales' replacement, though Bush hadn't decided whether to ask for his resignation.
Support for Gonzales appeared to be collapsing under the weight of questions about his truthfulness and his management ability. White House spokesman Tony Snow offered a tepid defense when asked if Gonzales would stay on the job until the end of President Bush's term.
"We hope so," Snow said. "None of us knows what's going to happen to us over the next 21 months."

COWARDS!!!!
From the AP
Top House Democrats retreated Monday from an attempt to limit President Bush’s authority for taking military action against Iran as the leadership concentrated on a looming confrontation with the White House over the Iraq war.
Officials said Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of the leadership had decided to strip from a major military spending bill a requirement for Bush to gain approval from Congress before moving against Iran.
Conservative Democrats as well as lawmakers concerned about the possible impact on Israel had argued for the change in strategy.
The developments occurred as Democrats pointed toward an initial test vote in the House Appropriations Committee on Thursday on the overall bill, which would require the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq by Sept. 1, 2008, if not earlier. The measure provides nearly $100 billion to pay for fighting in two wars, and includes more money than the president requested for operations in Afghanistan and what Democrats called training and equipment shortages.

It only gets better for Bush and the Republicans. Has the media changed sides and is now working for us?
From Reuters
The Pentagon is not adequately equipping the National Guard and has not adapted to the increasingly important security role it plays in the post-September 11 environment, an independent commission said in a report to Congress on Thursday
The report said the global war on terrorism had placed increased demands for the National Guard to provide forces for both overseas and domestic missions, but added that the Defense Department, or DOD, had been slow to adapt to the change.
"DOD's failure to appropriately consider National Guard needs and funding requirements has produced a National Guard that is not fully ready to meet current and emerging missions," the commission concluded.
Among its findings, the 13-member panel said the Defense Department was not adequately equipping the Guard for its domestic missions.
The National Guard's 458,000 citizen-soldiers have a dual mandate to protect the United States both at home and abroad.
Nearly 90 percent of Guard units in the United States are rated "not ready," partly because of equipment shortages, according to Guard data and the findings of the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves, The Washington Post reported.

I blogged about this myself, but Neocynic over on DailyKOS has done a great job, so I am reposting it here.
For those who missed last month's ration of neocon Orwellian agitprop, be advised that for today's Two Minute Hate Session: We have always been, and are now, and will be forever at war with Iran, and not Al-Queda, who have been, and are now, and will be forever our ally.
As any sophisticated reader of the New York Times, or its Cold War counterpart, Pravda, will attest, when read backwards, most articles yield up their most telling "facts" or "revelations" at the end, awaiting discovery by only the most intrepid of readers. Thus Seymour Hersh's New Yorker Magazine article, "The Redirection: Is the Administration’s new policy benefitting our enemies in the war on terrorism?", which led with details regarding the Administration's advanced war planning against Iran, the "scoop" covered breathlessly by the MSM, concluded with the revelation that Dick Cheney's office is probably running an illegal guns and money campaign against Iran.
http://www.newyorker.com/…
In keeping with the cynical aphorism that my enemy's enemy is my friend, these weapons and money are finding their way into the hands of radical Islamic Sunni groups in Lebanon with strong affiliations to Al-Queda.
Hersh details how the unintended, yet perfectly predictable, Shiite ascendancy via the Iran/Iraq nexus, now threatens wider US interests in the region, specifically Saudi Arabia. The Bush Administration now accepts the fact that, as Vali Nasr of the CFR quoted by Hersh states, "the biggest threat is Iran and the Sunni radicals are lesser enemies," thus a "victory for the Saudi line". And in keeping with the adage that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, Cheney et al. have resorted to their old tricks learned from the good ole days of Reagan's Iran Contra Guns for Money criminal machinations to organize, finance with embezzled funds, and manage an illegal anti-Iran campaign involving stolen money from Iraq to finance Al-Queda operations against Iranian proxies, namely Hezbollah in Lebanon.
This huge gamble is predicated upon one precious fact: the Saudi royal family believes that as long as they continue to tolerate and finance schools and charities connected to virulently anti-Shiite Sunni extremists, specifically the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafis, the royal family will be left alone to enjoy its illegitimate rule over the country. The last time the Saudis got into the business of aiding and abetting the Salafis, it spawned Osama Bin Ladin and the creation of Al-Queda in 1988. The Saudis now promise the Bush neocons that this time, they won't let the party get so out of hand that jets are crashed into buildings, and will ensure that the Salafis direct their animus, and most importantly, their explosives against Iranians, Syrians, and their respective proxies, Moqtada al-Sadr and Hezbollah. It is with respect to the struggle to subvert Hezbollah that money and guns are being secretly funnelled, via the US-supported Siniora Government of Lebanon, to Al-Queda through the good offices and efforts of our esteemed Vice President, Dick Cheney.
The Siniora Government is handing out our financial and armed assistance to radical Sunni groups in northern Lebabon, such as Fatah al-Islam and Asbat al-Ansar, with known ties to Al-Queda, as a way of counterbalancing Hezbollah power and influence throughout the country. These groups are known to "hate the Shiites, but hate Americans more." The Sunni majority leader in the Lebanese parliament, Saad Hariri, not only posted bail for four members of a group, the Dinniyeh Islamists, that according to the Crisis Group , "had trained in al-Queda camps in Afghanistan", but also obtained amnesty for 21 of its members convicted for crimes ranging from the bombing of foreign embassies to assasinations of Prime Ministers.
These matters require immediate Senate attention and investigation, and if proven accurate, Cheney et al. will have been caught financing our enemy, the real enemy, most responsible for the vast majority of US combat deaths in Iraq.

I think that it is funny that just this weekend on Meet the Press, or some other Sunday talk show I catch there was a Republican talking head going on and on about how great the economy was doing. That the war in Iraq did not matter because the stock market was doing great and uber rich people were getting uber richer.
Yesterday the stock market fell 417 points, ex-Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said that the American economy was heading into a recession for 2007. So the ONE thing the Republicans are trying to hang 2008 on, the one thing that may not have been turned into total shit on their watch is… anyone need more proof that god is not a Republican?

Well George Bush did it again today and sent a huge “Screw Off” to the American people. Bush is not going to be happy until ever American is enslaved and full of cancer from the poison in the water, food, and air.
New York Times (bolds are mine)
President Bush has signed a directive that gives the White House much greater control over the rules and policy statements that the government develops to protect public health, safety, the environment, civil rights and privacy. In an executive order published last week in the Federal Register, Mr. Bush said that each agency must have a regulatory policy office run by a political appointee, to supervise the development of rules and documents providing guidance to regulated industries. The White House will thus have a gatekeeper in each agency to analyze the costs and the benefits of new rules and to make sure the agencies carry out the president’s priorities.
This strengthens the hand of the White House in shaping rules that have, in the past, often been generated by civil servants and scientific experts. It suggests that the administration still has ways to exert its power after the takeover of Congress by the Democrats.
The White House said the executive order was not meant to rein in any one agency. But business executives and consumer advocates said the administration was particularly concerned about rules and guidance issued by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
In an interview on Monday, Jeffrey A. Rosen, general counsel at the White House Office of Management and Budget, said, “This is a classic good-government measure that will make federal agencies more open and accountable.”
Business groups welcomed the executive order, saying it had the potential to reduce what they saw as the burden of federal regulations. This burden is of great concern to many groups, including small businesses, that have given strong political and financial backing to Mr. Bush.
Here is something you should always remember, if business groups welcomed the executive order, and then you know it is not good for Americans, period. Bush now says everything has to be okayed by him, if he does not like it, he can stop it. Given Bush’s track record soon food will be full of asbestos and cockroach parts, and the air over some cities will be flammable.

I am almost starting to think that Bush is just daring the Congress to do something to stop him.
From AP (bolds are mine)
President Bush, on a collision course with Congress over Iraq, said Friday "I'm the decision-maker" about sending more troops to the war. He challenged skeptical lawmakers not to prematurely condemn his buildup.
"I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed," Bush said in an Oval Office meeting with senior military advisers.
The president had strong words for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who are lining up to support resolutions opposing his decision to send 21,500 troops to Iraq. He challenged them to put up their own ideas.
"I know there is skepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work," the president said. "They have an obligation and a serious responsibility therefore to put up their own plan as to what would work."
I say keep up little boy, you will loose in if you tangle with Congress. The American people are done with you, you are 3 day old guests, we are merely polite but want nothing more that for you to disappear. You see our troops as pawns in your every growing disaster called a legacy. In a desperate attempt to save face in the eyes of history you are willing to send OTHER peoples children to their death. George Bush, you are a coward, and the Republicans that have enabled you to take us this far down the road to hell are also cowards.
I beg Congress to call this little punk of a presidents bluff and cut all funding for the wars in Iraq, bring out troops home, or maybe even to the country that the 9/11 hijackers worked out of, Afghanistan.
Congress, Republican and Democrat, the ability to stop the insanity is in your hands, for the love of god, please stop this mess!

This has to be the Republicans worst nightmare, you have a president that is about to give his State of the Union address looking over a congress that his party lost because of his failures. You have an American public that has a more favorable rating for cancer then they do for Bush. You have a new poll that shows that Americans Standing in the world is the lowest it has ever been, and to top it all off, A trial started today, and it looks like the once Bush Administration confidant is ready to throw all of them under the bus.
